The Quality Engineer is responsible for facilitating and supporting the creation of repeatable, reliable processes which lead to the reduction/removal of defects throughout the value stream

Promote the expectation that team members will consider the impact of their work/actions on others and make deliberate decisions to act in ways which prevent rework or constraints on the process. The Quality Engineer is a leader in this regard.
Facilitate creation of systems and processes which enhance the teams ability to meet customer expectations (identification of standards, creating of buy/sell agreements, audit processes, etc.)
Provide leadership in Root Cause Analysis, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Production Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Practical Problem Solving, etc.
Act as mediator when needed to clarify customer expectations or interpret standards
Prepare formal programs for dissemination to the team
Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to prepare gauges and determine inspection frequencies
Work with operations and materials leadership to develop repeatable, reliable processes
Perform data entry, analysis and sharing/explanation of same
Design, review and interpret reports
Perform audits of new and existing processes
Document writing, control and management
Initiate non-conforming material documents for supplier quality issues
Assist in the execution of activities which promote continuous improvement and protect customers
Conduct training, information sharing and orientation sessions
Lead by example regarding safety and acting in the best interests of the team
Provide coverage for other technicians as needed
Act as the Quality Manager in their absence
Any other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager

Superior leadership ability in the development and implementation of quality systems
Knowledge of/ability to acquire a thorough understanding of customer expectations and regulatory requirements

Ability to read relevant measuring equipment
Provide appropriate feedback and documentation of any defects

Prior quality experience, preferred
Able to:
oRead and understand Engineering documents such as part prints, assembly drawings
oWork overtime on short notice
Be willing to:
oLearn and rotate within all quality areas
oImprove self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)
oDevelop a working knowledge of Spartans systems (example: AS/400, Sparcon)
